Is Lady Barn co-educational independent primary school?
Answer – Yes. We have been educating boys & girls together since 1873, when the school was founded. We believe it is the best way to educate young children.
What is the age range of the children at Lady Barn?
Answer – From age 3 to 11 years.
At what age can children start in the nursery?
Answer – In the academic year that the child turns from 3 to 4 years of age (out of nappies).
Does Lady Barn participate in the nursery voucher scheme?
Answer – Yes. Please contact the school Bursary and they will be delighted to answer your questions.
Is there a Lady Barn uniform and an appointed supplier?
Answer – Yes. We have a very smart uniform which is available from Monkhouse uniform suppliers. We also have a PTA second-hand uniform sale twice a year.
Do Lady Barn pupils take the 11+ examinations?
Answer – Yes. Pupils can elect to take entrance exams at 11+ for the schools of their choice.
Which schools do Lady Barn children go on to?
Answer – Children go to the best schools in the area. Care and guidance is given to select the right school for the child, depending upon their abilities and character. Our pupils move onto Cheadle Hulme, Stockport Grammar, Withington Girls, Manchester High, Manchester Grammar, King’s Macclesfield, Alderley Edge School for Girls, Altincham Grammar School to name but a few.
Lady Barn has an excellent reputation for academia but what else can it offer?
Answer – In addition to our academic successes and excellent care, the school offers extensive purpose built primary dedicated facilities, a wide range of educational trips and residential experiences. An unsurpassed extra-curricular activity programme which embraces sport, dance, drama, speech, music, languages, art & design, ICT, story telling & reading and a range of games and clubs. There is something for everyone.
Are there any arrangements for pre-school, after school and holiday care?
Answer – Yes, Breakfast Club starts at 7.45am (donation requested) / pre-school starts at 8.10am (free), after school care starts the moment school finishes until 6.00pm (charge applied / booking in advance advised), holiday care is available through an outside agency that uses our school site (Superkids Ltd)
Does the school have a Behaviour Policy?
Answer – Yes. The school has a duty to ensure all our pupils feel happy and secure. At Lady Barn we take this very seriously and have clear, written policies covering all aspects discipline and care. Copies are freely available to all parents from the school office.
Can I arrange a visit to Lady Barn?
Answer – Yes. Contact the school and a senior member of staff would be delighted to show you our school during a normal working day. Alternatively attend one of our Open Mornings and a school tour can be arranged on the day.
