Lady Barn House

Lady Barn House School

Ever since its foundation in 1873 by the educational pioneer W.H.Herford, Lady Barn House School has maintained his vision that every child should have the opportunity to develop their skills, grow in confidence and find their own voice in the world. The cornerstone of this vision was (and remains) that every child should be happy and so at the heart of everything we do there lies a deep care for each child as an individual. Here is the essence of Lady Barn on which it has built its reputation both locally and nationally as an exceptional school.

This long-held sense of purpose continues to underpin the school’s many qualities – unrivalled academic success, innovative and inspiring teaching, superb pastoral care, extensive outdoor and sporting opportunities, a thriving creative curriculum, all exhibited by happy, confident, well-mannered children who love to learn and who are proud of their achievements and of their school.

This website can only provide you with a flavour of the spirit and warmth of our school. The only way to find out properly about the remarkable things happening at Lady Barn House is to see us in action and to meet the staff and pupils. Please do contact us to arrange a visit or come along to one of our regular Open Days.

It is my privilege to be only the eleventh Head of this remarkable school in over 140 years and I look forward to welcoming you to this very special place of learning.

Mr Mark Turner, Headmaster
